Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients and Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°
Sift together into a small bowl and set aside:
- 1 3/4 cups white flour, sifted
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened on the counter
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
Beat the butter in an electric mixer on high until light and fluffy. Add sugars and continue to beat on high speed until the sugar starts to dissolve into the butter, about two minutes.
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
Add to the sugar/ butter mixer on load speed, scrapping the sides of the bowl when necessary.
Slowly add the bowl of sifted flower and baking soda to the electric mixer bowl
Add one cup of chocolate chips, and 1/2 cup of chopped nuts, if desired.
Drop onto a baking sheet (I tend to use a silplat liner, to prevent any sticking) in 1" rounds.
Bake 10-12 minutes, until the edges are a nice, light golden brown.
